Murphy’s Songwriting Contest 2021

to thank our community for 14 great years, and promote local singer/songwriters, Murphy’s Guitars is hosting a Songwriting Contest, and one lucky winner will win a home recording bundle courtesy of Murphy’s Guitars. Contestants will submit their songs via YouTube using the hashtag #MurphysSongContest2021 (see below for instructions). Our panel of judges will choose 3 finalists, and 2 crowd favorites will be chosen based on “likes,” and “comments.” The 5 finalists will perform at Murphy’s Guitars Anniversary Celebration Event on June 5th to determine the winners (see prizes below).

How To Enter:

1. Upload a video of you playing an original song to YouTube
2. Use the hashtag #MurphysSongContest2021 in the title
3. Share your video on social media & tell your friends, family, and fans to like, & comment!
4. Follow @MurphysGuitars on Instagram for announcements

Songwriting Contest Rules:

• Entries must be posted to YouTube between Saturday, May 8th and Monday, May 31st.
  • (remember, in order to win “crowd favorite,” the sooner you post the better)
• In Order to be entered you must: 
  • Post your video to YouTube
    • Videos not set to “public” in privacy settings will not be considered
      • Any Likes, plays, shares, etc. on videos posted prior to May 8th, 2021 will not be counted towards crowd favorite
  • Use #MurphysSongContest2021 in the title of your video
• Murphy’s Guitars will manage a playlist of official entries on the official Murphy’s Guitars YouTube Channel. If you don’t see your video on the playlist, email mail@murphysguitars.com or call 801-298-4777
  • Follow @MurphysGuitars to stay up to date on the contest, and for more cool content!
  • Songs not meeting the posting criteria will not be considered
• Our panel of judges will select their 3 favorite entries, and 2 crowd favorites will be chosen based on the number of “likes” and “comments” that an entry receives.
  • One Entry per contestant. Pick your best song and go with it!
  • Murphy’s Guitars reserves the right to select crowd favorite based on number of unique comments, video likes, and plays. Spam comments will not be counted.
• The 5 finalists must be available to perform on June 5th at Murphy’s 10th Anniversary Celebration. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be chosen based on judges scores.
  • contestants must play the song they submitted, and were selected to perform
  • The contestant that wrote and submitted the song will be required to perform the day of the event at their assigned time, and may only have 1 other musician accompany them.
  • Murphy’s Guitars will furnish a sound system, and microphones. contestants must provide their own instrument.
• Contestants must submit an Original Song. Covers or songs written by someone other than the performer will not be considered
• Song lyrics must be Family Friendly. songs with obscene subject matter, use of profanity, or exhibiting any sort of suggestive nature will not be considered.

Prizes are as follows:

• 1^st place Home recording prize package
• 2^nd place $50 Murphy’s Guitars gift card
• 3^rd place TBA
• 4^th & 5^th place TBA
  • no substitution or trading prizes

Murphy’s Guitars reserves the right to use, photos, video, or audio recordings from the event for promotional purposes.
