DESCRIPTION:Murphy’s Guitars Guitar Maintenance Workshop\nIt seems like at least once a week someone comes into the store and says\, “why don’t you guys do a guitar maintenance workshop?” Well\, here goes nothing. Perhaps the most requested workshop we’ve ever done\, for our 11th anniversary Murphy’s Guitars is hosting a Guitar Maintenance Workshop sponsored by D’addario and co. \nWhat will the workshop cover?\nWe’ll cover everything a working musician needs to keep their guitar in good playing condition \n\nRestringing your guitar (multiple different methods\, and how to do it fast in a pinch)\nHow to do a basic setup on your guitar\, and how to read factory setup specs\nElectric (and acoustic) guitar intonation\nBasic care and maintenance ranging from which cleaning products to use\, how to manage your humidity\, and tons of other things you might not have known about keeping your guitar in top playing condition\n\nThe workshop will largely be a lecture format with demonstartions\, if you’d like to bring a guitar for demonstration you are welcome to do that\, and we will try to make the workshop as “hands-on” as possibly offering people the opportunity to try a few techniques\, look at measurements up close\, etc. \n\nWho is teaching it?\nThe workshop will be taught by Aaron Jorgensen. Aaron is the Manager and head of repairs at Murphy’s Guitars. He has been doing guitar maintenance and repairs since 2010\, and recently completed the repairs course (which also featured a foucs on setups and maintenance) through the American School of Lutherie in Portland\, Oregon. Aaron builds guitars\, and performs on a guitar he himself made in his spare time. \nD’addario Care and Maintenance kits\nHow do I sign up?\nThis workshop will likely fill up fast\, so sign up sooner rather than later. DESCRIPTION:This year to promote local singer/songwriters\, Murphy’s Guitars is hosting a Songwriting Contest\, and one lucky winner will win a free Breedlove Solo Nylon string guitar courtesy of Breedlove Guitars and Murphy’s Guitars. Contestants will record themselves playing their song and post it to YouTube\, Soundcloud\, Facebook\, etc. Then share the link to their song on our facebook page (click here for link) 5 finalists will be chosen by our pannel of judges\, and one person will be selected as crowd favorite based on the number of “likes” and “shares” on our page. \nThe 6 finalists will perform at Murphy’s Guitars Anniversary Celebration Event on June 9th to determine the winners (see prizes below). \nSongwriting Contest Rules: \n\nEntries must be posted to Murphy’s Guitars Facebook page before June 2nd\, 2018.\n\n(remember\, in order to win “crowd favorite\,” the sooner you post the better)\n\n\nIn Order to be entered you must: \n\n\n\n\n\nLike Murphy’s Guitars on Facebook\nMake sure the link you’re posting to is not set to private so our judges can see it\n\n\n\n\nUse the Hashtag #MurphysSongContest2018 so we can find your post easier\nSongs not meeting the posting criteria will not be considered\n\n\nOur panel of judges will select their 5 favorite entries\, and 1 crowd favorite will be chosen based on the number of “likes” and “shares” that an entry receives.\n\n“likes” and “shares” on the post made to the Murphy’s Guitars facebook page will be the only ones considered\nOne Entry per contestant.
